Beyond the Degree: DNP Influence in the Age of Intelligent Healthcare

This session examines the expanding role of the Doctor of Nursing Practice–prepared nurse in leadership, systems transformation, and emerging health technologies. Participants will explore practical strategies to strengthen professional visibility, cultivate strategic mentorship relationships, and position themselves for career advancement following graduation. Emphasis will be placed on the ethical and operational implications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, and the critical role DNP-prepared nurses play in shaping responsible AI integration in clinical practice and health systems.

A customized workshop focused on helping students strengthen their professional presence, build meaningful connections, craft an effective elevator pitch, and optimize their LinkedIn profiles. This session supports networking across clinical and non-clinical pathways and empowers students to increase visibility during their early career.

Networking as a DNP Outside of the Clinical Role

This session explores how nurses can expand the Doctor of Nursing Practice’s (DNP) impact in non-clinical roles by building authentic, human-centered networks in academia, professional associations, and the community. Participants will learn concrete methods for developing these interdisciplinary partnerships, managing organizational dynamics, and using conferences, social events, publications, and presentations to amplify their influence and create new professional opportunities.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify the role of the DNP in non-clinical settings and high-impact networking opportunities within community organizations, academic institutions, and interdisciplinary teams.
  2. Develop a personal professional networking plan that incorporates strategies for visibility and fostering partnerships through genuine connections.
  3. Evaluate the implications of the "always on" nature of the DNP in community leadership and the importance of professional etiquette and consistency across both formal and informal environments.
